Hello there,

Have you heard of Pets Pyjamas?
If not, pop over and take a look. It's a fabulous shopping destination for you and your pets, it's totally stylish too.
As well as selling tons of pet related products, they also offer a Pet Neighbourhood page where you can connect with fellow pet lovers in your area and share of the best places to visit that are four legged friend friendly!

So to get more to the point, I'm running a competition with them, to win a portrait by me.
Head over and enter. : D x

Cupcake The Canine Admires Nude Art.

Morning,

Last week I had the delight of illustrating Cupcake as a cut out.
Here you can see her admiring some risqué art before beginning her journey to the US.

One thing I love about my job, it's always fun.
I cannot grumble.

Knowing When To Stop.

Morning,
How's the week been? Good I hope.

This week has had me drawing humans, that's right, human beings!
It's for a project I'm working on which has to be kept under wraps for now, but I will divulge when I can. Promise.
The portraits I've been working on are all very simple in colour and line. Kind of the way I like it really, believe it or not. David Hockey's line drawings are what first got excited about line and capturing the human form, and I always start my work with line.

So that got me thinking later in the day, as to what drew me to canines to start with. Capturing the character is what it's all about.
So for this drawing I'm keeping it simple.
Sometimes you just need to know when to stop.

For The Mother That Doesn't Celebrate! x

Mothers Day. I've never really celebrated it. Well not in the true sense of the tradition.

My mum, who is truly lovely by the way, doesn't go along with such things.
Her religious beliefs mean that, birthdays and some other dates on the calendar aren't really acknowledged.
Some people have thought this a shame in the past, as have I at times.
Her thoughts on the matter are to appreciate loved ones, friends and family all the time.
Which is actually extremely honourable of her, as she is someone that really does stick to her principles.

And for this reason, she is one of a kind. A true inspiration to me, and I'm so happy that our relationship is as it is.
Thanks for your support over the years and for being a wonderful friend.

Pastel Baby Boston

Hope your week is going well.

I'm feeling a softness at the minute, might be the weather changing, might just be my mood.
Who knows, but always good to go with how you're feeling.

So this week as well as creating some human portraits I've been listening to lots of talks by Maira Kalman. (Who, I am finding extremely inspirational, but more about that another time) and thinking about creating a new sketchbook.
This is to spark of ideas and just to get me thinking, doodling and playing around.
Just to see what happens!

For now though, I will leave you with a baby Boston. x
